Information would be good. A roadmap would surely make a world of difference as right now it is hard to really plan on what to do considering we dont know if it will be a slow drip of material or a massive jump. However I also assume that covid needed to have some effect on their roadmap. If they are distributing content then its gotta be a struggle to work that about lockdown and social distancing.I totally agree that content should be delivered gradually over time, never to believe otherwise. But what we have right now is quite barebones and the lack of information on what's coming or what they are likely makes it less than ideal.
It is weird that nothing has been heard by us. I do think the radio silence isn't a strategy. They want every upgrade to be but of being lied to about a release, after years. Transparency will be appreciated. I would do fine with them stating they're coping with something atleast or complications. Nonetheless, it isn't gonna push me away from Phantasy Star Online 2 should they dont.I am not speaking for me, these are just my concerns for Phantasy Star Online 2's success. All stuff that would be nice, but it won't turn me away if they don't. I am invested into PSO.
It could turn off other people who do not have that"psychological" connection to the franchise though.I mean I've seen it firsthand. With friends that had an attachment of sorts. Believe he played PSO2 for just a week and went straight back to BDO. In the current state of it I dont think it has a chance of being a mainstream success. My view is that Phantasy Star Online 2 wont achieve mainstream success. Nowhere near. If we see a PSO3 or something similar. I think that it will rest on such a match and its was able to make the franchise mainstream. Even then I think it could be.
A lot is riding on how much of those content we receive and how quickly. Furthermore, if there is going to be any West-exclusive content/crossovers. And how much term of mouth/content founder service Phantasy Star Online 2 receives in the crowd. To be honest I doubt PSO2 will become a super-successful game in the grand scheme of things. I believe it is likely to keep a very good core community which plays it to the day that they shut down the servers...
But PSO2 is facing some looming menaces in the future that are looking to slice a lot of the pie out of a great deal of matches (2077, Blue Protocol,'' Lost Ark, simply to name a couple). But I think that the entire mindset of"What defines a successful game?" Is going to continue to change as a new console generation arrives along with the video game marketplace continues to get increasingly saturated by awesome matches thinning that the pool of Phantasy Star Online 2 player's time to game/money to spend further and further. The age of any name monopolizing a multi-million member Phantasy Star Online 2 participant base for many is gone.
